PROTON, inspired by the government's call for a more competitive auto industry, introduced under the terms of the National Automotive Policy,  would like to announce that car prices will be reduced across the board by 2.5 per cent to 7 per cent, depending on its model.

This is in line with the Government's call for local manufacturers to produce cars which the rakyat will be able to afford.  PROTON in heeding this call have reduce its prices between RM1,000 to RM3,000 on each model for the benefit of the consumers.

"These new prices, which will take immediate effect, will put Proton cars on an equal competitive footing as all the other cars within the same vehicle segment" said Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, Managing Director of PROTON Holdings Berhad.

Car buyers who have booked their new vehicles, but have yet to register these cars, will enjoy these new prices.

Moving forward, it is imperative for Proton to have the right mix of products to enhance our market share.

As such, Proton will be manufacturing in the future a wider variety of vehicles which will cater to the varied demands of the consumer market.

"We hope that the new prices would generate more sales of Proton cars. More importantly we believe the NAP will further motivate the players in the automotive industry including component vendors and sales dealers, to be more resilient and competitive to further build an industry that all Malaysian will be able to benefit from", said Syed Zainal.
