Subang Jaya, 25 May 2018 – The Company hosted another round of dealers signing ceremony and this time a total of 12 existing, and 3 new dealers were present for the ceremony.
The Dealers Network Upgrade and New Dealership Agreement signing ceremony was held at PROTON Centre of Excellence. Representing PROTON was Abdul Rashid Musa, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, who signed the agreement with the dealers.

Dr Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON and senior management members of PROTON were present to grace the occasion.

In less than five months, PROTON has achieved 72% of its 2018 intended target for its outlets nationwide to have 3S and 4S status

On a strong footing, PROTON is on track with its plan to attain 109 outlets of 3S and 4S stature by end of October 2018, and the Company is getting closer to the benchmark target earlier than expected.

“I am happy to share that within a period of less than five months, that is from January – 18 May this year, we managed to accomplish 79 outlets with 3S and 4S status, which is approximately 72% achievement against target set for the year. This is absolutely good news, a wonderful moment for PROTON, and with the upgrading taking place, we are confident that we are on steady grounds to provide world class excellence by delivering best sales and service experience for our customers,” said Dr Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON.

Li also mentioned, “I also wish to thank new investors who joined us as Dealers of the PROTON family. While all of us were tirelessly making plans to drive PROTON forward, we are very encouraged by the fact that we have the support of new investors along the way, who are game to take on the challenge of being a PROTON dealer. This can only mean one thing – that we still have strong brand presence in the market and because of this, many came on board to sail on the PROTON journey into the future with us. Thank you for believing in us. Now we can all charge ahead and be the driving force of the brand”.

Building dreams together - Existing dealers must upgrade

A PROTON dealer for 15 years, Sobri Mustafa of Top Zone Auto Gallery Sdn Bhd who decided to upgrade to a 3S outlet said, “The secret to a successful business is the ability to make customers happy and satisfied for both sales and after sales service. Moreover, with the current partnership with Geely, we can now compete with brands from Japan and Korea due to capabilities in terms of technology advancement, attractive design, comfort, and especially in terms of quality where we can see there are improvements in our cars now,” explained Sobri enthusiastically.

For Datin Fauziah Ahmad, of Pengangkutan Sedar Sdn Bhd she reasoned that, “To be honest, we started our own initiative to upgrade from a shop-lot to a stand-alone building two years ago. Currently we need to upgrade further to be in tandem with the standard requirements, but most important is that we understand the need to upgrade as we needed to portray a better appearance and image for the product, the PROTON brand and the upgrade to a 3S outlet will ultimately serve its purpose as we will be able to serve customers better”.

As for Dato’ Sri Ngu Ung Yong, of Ngu’s Motor Service Sdn Bhd who views it in terms of nationalistic sentiment, “Proton is our national car and it is our duty to make it successful again. Moreover, with the partnership with Geely and new management, we trust PROTON is in a good position for turnaround,” said Ngu, who will be upgrading the premise to a 4S outlet.

He continued, “In addition, we are the only dealer in Sibu and with a rising demand for Proton cars in Sarawak, I am confident we can contribute to the sales and growth of market share of PROTON in the long term. Most importantly for us, when we are in this business and for us to be successful, we need to honour our promises to customers, listen to their issues and attend to their needs fast. Our values go a long way and so is our attitude towards customers”.

Confidence is strong on the future direction of PROTON – 7 new dealers joined PROTON

This month’s dealer signing ceremony is more meaningful because we not only welcome more dealer outlet upgrades but we also welcome new PROTON dealers to the dealership family. The confidence level for PROTON brand is strong in the market and the Company commend their decision in joining to make PROTON great again.

For some of these investors, confidence is so strong on the PROTON brand and they decided that a flagship outlet is worth every Ringgit they invested.

“From our perspective, the partnership with Geely puts us in a stronger position to gain market traction and simultaneously revolutionise the business model of PROTON. We also get the sense that consumers are eager for the coming new product launches, especially the first Proton SUV which will be brought to our Malaysian shores. This confidence was echoed by Chai Siam Yeong, of Anggerik Semoyang Sdn Bhd, who has never been a car dealer as well but took a leap faith for this venture into a 3S outlet. In his opinion, he said, “Although we have no experience as a car dealer, we see tremendous opportunity as a PROTON dealer. With the first Proton SUV in the market, the interest from the public is high, we anticipate PROTON will gather more confidence as we move on, so for us this is definitely a good investment”.

Another new dealer with 3S facility, when asked on what Malaysians want in a car, Goh Kian Chuan, of DIDI Motors Sdn Bhd believes that, “The market wants quality cars coming from PROTON at affordable prices, and for most Malaysians, these are the two high considerations when customers look for in a car. Looking at current developments in PROTON, we are more than confident it is moving in the right direction, and it will definitely be a worthy competitor amongst other car marques in the market, more so now that PROTON is part of the Geely group”.
