Subang Jaya, 29 September 2018 – PROTON is proud to announce it has been officially awarded the ‘Most People In An MPV’ record by the Malaysia Book of Records. The record was officially presented during a ceremony at Sunway Velocity Mall on 28 September and was presented by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, YB Gobind Singh Deo.
The latest record breaking feat using a Proton vehicle was achieved with the Proton Exora, which was used during the final of the Ace The Space Challenge. An incredible 55 members of team Girls Power from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP) managed to squeeze into the MPV, thus creating a new record entry in the Malaysia Book of Records and smashing the previous record of 41 for the most people in a Proton, set during the preliminary rounds of the competition. The newest entry will spur the Company towards adding yet more records to its name including an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
Proton Exora rises to every occasion
The stars on display at the MBR Live! roadshow are the Proton Ertiga and the Proton Exora which was used for the record breaking feat. Members of the public were invited to experience the challenge by getting as many people as possible inside the same vehicle, demonstrating the spaciousness of the Exora.
According to Abdul Rashid Musa, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON Edar, PROTON joined the roadshow to bring the brand and its cars closer to Malaysians.
“We believe that by participating in the MBR Live! roadshow, PROTON is promoting the ‘Malaysia Boleh!’ spirit while at the same time reminding car buyers about the value inherent in every Proton car. With 55 people in the MPV, this shows the quality and strength of the Exora that rises to every occasion,” he said.

Proton’s record breaker made an appearance at MBR Live!
PROTON, as part of the MBR Live! roadshow, gave Malaysians a chance to enter the record books during the event, which was held at Sunway Velocity Mall in Cheras from 28 – 30 September 2018. Launched by YB Gobind Singh Deo, MBR Live! was the first ever roadshow organised by the Malaysia Book of Records, in conjunction with the Merdeka and Malaysia day month. During the fun-filled 3-day event, all Malaysians were encouraged to set new records.
