WHAT SHOULD YOU DO AFTER A CAR ACCIDENT

Step 1

Call PROTON Customer Care at 1800 888 398 (toll-free) or tap on Mobile Assist in the MyProton mobile app for assistance. If you need police or ambulance assistance, please inform our PROTON Customer Care team.

Step 2

Wait for a PROTON authorised tow truck for assistance

You will receive the details of your assigned tow truck. Do not agree to any help given by other tow trucks. It’s important to never sign any forms or hand over your car keys to anyone.

Step 3

Gather evidence of the accident

Take photos of the scene including damages, number plates of the cars involved and identification information of all drivers involved in the accident. Write down what happened so you don’t forget the details.

Step 4

Once the PROTON authorised truck tows your car to the nearest police station, you must provide an official statement of the accident. Be as detailed as possible. Your insurance company will require a copy of the report.

Step 5

Repair your car at a PROTON authorised service centre.          

Ensure that your car is repaired at PROTON authorised service centres only.

Step 6

File an insurance claim.

Submit all required documents to the PROTON authorised service centre. Our staff will assist you with the claim.

Things to note about your insurance:

1. This comprehensive policy doesn't cover losses due to natural disasters such as floods and landslides.
    For that, you can insure yourself with Special Peril cover.
2. Windscreen claims do not affect your No Claim Discount (NCD) if you have windscreen coverage.
3. You are entitled to list 1 additional named driver for free. Each additional driver listed will cost RM10.
4. All company-registered vehicles must have all their drivers insured.
5. Your motor insurance issued in Malaysia provides coverage across Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam.
6. Your motor insurance policy does not cover non-factory fitted vehicle accessories.
7. If you have more than one vehicle registered under the same owner, your NCD is transferrable between those vehicles.
8. In the event of an accident, you must lodge a police report within 24 hours of the accident.
    Send your car for repair at a Proton authorised service centre within 7 days.
