Subang Jaya, 3 April 2025 – PROTON today announced a comprehensive support initiative for the residents and victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire incident that occurred on the morning of 1st of April. This initiative comes in response to the urgent needs of the community, following the government’s announcement of financial aid for affected residents.

Acknowledging the immediate needs of the displaced residents, the company has allocated a total of RM250,000 to those affected by this incident including those sheltered at different temporary evacuation centres (PPS) such as at Dewan Masjid Putra Heights and Subang Jaya City Council’s multi-purpose hall, Dewan Camelia.

PROTON is aware that many affected residents are expressing that the financial aid they are receiving is not enough and therefore hopes this latest contribution will help to alleviate some of the burden faced by the residents.

Cited police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, media reports stated that the fire, triggered by a gas pipeline rupture, engulfed a 500-meter stretch, causing extensive damage to 235 premises, with 87 homes completely destroyed and 148 damaged. Furthermore, 399 vehicles were affected, 225 by direct fire damage and 174 by heat damage.

PROTON is sympathetic to the needs of the victims and understands the devastating impact of the disaster. The immense challenges faced by residents at this time are difficult to comprehend and the company is dedicated to offering practical support during this difficult period.

Six service centres in the vicinity to provide free assessment to all affected PROTON cars

Six PROTON service centres in the vicinity have been designated to offer free, comprehensive assessments of all Proton vehicles affected by the fire and will then assist with insurance claims based on the severity of the damaged vehicles.

This service aims to accurately determine the extent of damage and provide owners with clear pathways for repair and restoration, whether the affected PROTON cars are parked at ground zero or were moved out during the incident. PROTON wants to offer comprehensive service and insurance claim assistance to ensure the affected cars are taken care of and that the owners’ benefits are protected.
