PROTON recorded its highest monthly sales volume in 36 months with 15,228 units sold (Domestic + Export) in August 2025, a strong performance that drove total sales past the six-figure barrier with 100,902 units sold so far this year. PROTON had a productive sales month in April, which saw an increase in market share for the company. Group sales closed the month at 12,692 units (domestic, export, smart, Proton e.MAS), an impressive 14.7% increase over the same month in 2024 and as a result, market share for the month is projected to be 20.8%. PROTON STARTS 2025 WITH NEW e.MAS 7 LEADING EV SALES IN JANUARY
Following an extraordinary year when Total Industry Volume (TIV) hit a record high of 813,521 units, Malaysian automotive sales receded as bumper sales the previous month and the Chinese New Year festive period took a toll on new car purchases. An estimated 50,278 units were sold in January 2025, a decrease of 38.7% compared to 81,987 units for December 2024 while against sales from January last year, volume has shrunk by 24.9% from the 66,925 units recorded twelve months ago.
PROTON BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF MALAYSIA’S FIRST DEDICATED EV PLANT IN TANJUNG MALIM
PROTON has today taken the next step to achieving its goal of local EV manufacturing following a commencement of construction ceremony for the first dedicated EV production plant at its high tech Tanjung Malim facility. Targeted for completion by the end of 2025 at an investment cost of RM82 million, the first phase of the company’s EV assembly plan will have an initial planned capacity of 20,000 units per year. Once completed, it will produce multiple models based on the Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform starting with the Proton e.MAS 7, the first EV model from a Malaysian automotive brand.

PROTON CLOSES 2024 WITH STRONG SALES NUMBERS IN DECEMBER
PROTON has closed its books for 2024 with sales of 152,352 units (domestic and export) to claim second place once again in the sales ranking table. The year closed on a high note after 14,601 units were sold in December, a 19.7% increase over the previous month and the second highest sales figure for the year, following a bumper month for exports with 1,131 units shipped to overseas markets.
PROTON INTRODUCES PROCARE SMART PLAN PREPAID SERVICE PACKAGE
National car manufacturer PROTON has rolled out a new prepaid service package that customers can choose to purchase for their new and existing Proton cars. The ProCare Smart Plan (PSP) has been rolled out for the Proton Saga, Proton X90 and 2025 Proton X70, promising savings of up to RM670 (depending on models).
PROTON STRENGTHENS MARKET POSITION AS TIV SET FOR NEW RECORD IN 2024
National carmaker PROTON registered sales of 12,194 units (domestic and export) in November, a slight decrease of 4.7% compared to October but in-line with the contraction in total industry volume (TIV) of 4.1% for Malaysian automotive sales. This brought the company’s year to date (YTD) total sales volume to 137,751 units with Proton retaining its position as the second most popular brand in the national sales rankings. Forecast market share for the month is 18.2% leading to a YTD figure of 18.8% for the whole of 2024.

PRO-NET & EVC Launch Condominium EV Charging Infrastructure Programme
PRO-NET, Proton New Energy Technology and EV Connection (EVC), operator of the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging network JomCharge, today jointly launched the ‘PRONET-EVC Condominium EV Charging Infrastructure Programme”. Under this programme, EVC will allocate funds for the installation of EV chargers at 100 condominiums that currently do not have any EV charging facilities. In addition, both parties will also work together to ensure competitive charging rates at around 70 condominiums already on the JomCharge network.
