PROTON ANNOUNCES THE START OF CKD OPERATIONS FOR SAGA IN EGYPT
National carmaker PROTON took another step towards expanding its footprint in international markets by announcing the start of CKD operations in Egypt. The announcement was made during an event at PROTON’s Centre Of Excellence headquarters, which was highlighted by a flag off ceremony to send 120 units of left hand drive (LHD) Proton Saga CKD packs to the country.
PROTON SALES EXCEED THE 100,000-MARK FOR SIX CONSECUTIVE YEARS
Sales of national carmaker PROTON exceeded the 100,000-mark for the sixth year in a row with 101,489 units sold year-to-date (YTD), after achieving sales of 12,690 units (domestic and export) in August. This has solidified the company’s second position in the overall national automotive sales ranking table with a forecast market share of 19%.

PROTON e.MAS 7 TO MAKE PUBLIC DEBUT AT NATIONAL DAY PARADE
Malaysia’s 67th National Day will be celebrated on 31st August this year and to add extra significance to the occasion, the PROTON e.MAS 7 will be making its first public appearance. The national automotive brand’s first EV model was previewed to the media on 2 August, to kick-off a journey that will culminate in its market launch at the end of the year and now, it will appear with a special camouflage motif representing the colours of the Jalur Gemilang, as part of a 25-car contingent featuring various Proton models.

National carmaker PROTON has expanded its geographical reach in the Caribbean by partnering with ANSA Motors Limited in Trinidad and Tobago, a company with a century’s worth of experience in the automotive industry, since March this year. The successful tie-up has yielded promising results with buyer response to its car models exceeding initial expectations. Year-to-date, PROTON has shipped 261 units to the country in 2024, achieving 101% of its target volume and bringing the total number of Proton vehicles shipped there to 366 units since CY2023.

68 months after its public debut on 12 December 2018, Proton’s first SUV has received a major update to drive it to the head of the premium C-segment SUV class. 2024 PROTON X50 SHINES IN JULY TO REGAIN MARKET LEADERSHIP
It has been a little more than two months since national automotive brand Proton launched the updated 2024 PROTON X50 and despite some initial scepticism from certain quarters, the model has proven its worth once again. The company recently announced that in July, during its first full month of sales, the B-segment premium SUV achieved a remarkable sales figure of 2,585 units. This was its best performance in 2024, vaulting the model back to the head of its class and solidifying its status as Malaysia’s favourite compact SUV.

To be deployed on future EV (electric vehicle) models, the new brand will be known as e.MAS and is pronounced as the alphabet e combined with the word “mas”. National carmaker PROTON picked up two awards for its newest models at the Allianz DSF.my Vehicle Of The Year (VOTY) 2024 awards ceremony yesterday. The company’s market-leading C-segment sedan, the Proton S70 Flagship X received its first accolade when it won the Sedan of The Year category, despite having been on sale for less than six months. Meanwhile the smart #1 BRABUS, launched in November 2023 and distributed by PROTON subsidiary PRO-NET, beat out stiff competition to win the Electric Crossover of The Year award.
PROTON APRIL SALES UP 17.1% AS PROTON S70 BUILDS MOMENTUM
National carmaker PROTON posted a 17.1% growth rate over the same month in 2023 with 11,025 units (domestic and export) sold compared to 9,415 units in April last year. As a result, sales for the first four months of 2024 also closed stronger with 50,175 units, higher than the 49,702 units sold from January to April 2023. Total industry volume (TIV) for the Malaysian automotive market meanwhile also grew for the same period to an estimated 59,100 units and a cumulative total of 261,345 units for the year.
PROTON OPENS R&D FACILITY AT HANGZHOU BAY, CHINA
National carmaker PROTON opened its research and development (R&D) centre in China last Saturday to strengthen its collaborative efforts with its existing partner Zhejiang Geely Holding Ltd (Geely) in a move to complement its existing facilities in Malaysia.
