• New Sport Edition adds exclusive styling enhancements to PROTON’s pioneering C-segment SUV

Subang Jaya, 10 April 2026 – PROTON is set to introduce the PROTON X70 Sport Edition, a bold new expression of one of the company’s most historically significant models. Available for public viewing at selected showrooms this weekend, customers can also place their bookings for the model early ahead of the official price announcement on 16 April 2026.

As the model that marked the beginning of a new chapter for the company in 2018, the PROTON X70 holds a unique place in the company’s transformation journey. It was the first SUV launched under the PROTON-Geely partnership and represented a major leap forward in technology, quality, and product positioning when it entered the market. More than just a new model, the X70 redefined public perception of the PROTON brand by introducing a higher level of refinement, connectivity, advanced safety systems, and premium SUV ownership at an attainable price point.

The X70 also played a critical role in reshaping Malaysia’s automotive landscape. It helped establish PROTON as a serious contender in the competitive C-segment SUV market, while its localisation programme strengthened domestic manufacturing capabilities and vendor development. New colour and styling enhancements build road presence

Building on that legacy, the new PROTON X70 Sport Edition adds a sportier and more distinctive dimension to the flagship SUV’s identity. Limited to a production run of just 600 Premium variant units and presented exclusively in Quartz Black, the Sport Edition gives the X70 a sharper and more assertive visual presence. Its exterior is enhanced with specially designed front, side, and rear skirts, creating a lower, more dynamic stance that accentuates the SUV’s athletic proportions. Black 19-inch alloy wheels and exclusive Sport Edition badging further distinguishes the variant, giving it a unique identity within the X70 range.

Inside, the sporty treatment continues with exclusive Sport Edition logos embroidered on the front seats, along with red stitching on the seats, steering wheel, and front armrest adding a premium bespoke touch to the cabin. Completing the package is a boot tray to allow for more convenient luggage carrying.

Aimed at customers seeking a more expressive version of the X70 without compromising comfort, spaciousness and advanced features, the latest addition to the X70 lineup presents a sleek monochromatic theme and with an enhanced and commanding road presence.
