SUBANG JAYA, 5 November 2026 – National carmaker PROTON today announced the official name of its upcoming updated sedan as the 2027 PROTON S70 RS, giving Malaysia’s Sporty Sedan a bold new identity. The announcement was made in conjunction with a first look at its refreshed design and selected features ahead of its official launch.

The RS moniker stands for Refined Sportiness, reflecting a bolder expression of the S70’s sporty character. Guided by the theme “Performance with Style”, the 2027 PROTON S70 RS builds on the current S70’s established sporty DNA with a more purposeful design, a sportier cabin and refinements to its driving dynamics.

A MORE DISTINCTIVE EXPRESSION OF SPORTINESS

The design direction of the 2027 PROTON S70 RS centres on taking the model from sporty to sports-focused. Its more purposeful proportions, sharper detailing and contrasting accents create a stronger visual presence, giving the sedan a more assertive stance while retaining the sophistication expected of its segment.

At the front, the redesigned grille and bumper establish a distinctive identity, with intricate detailing and red accents adding contrast and depth. Along the sides, sporty skirts and 17-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers reinforce its planted stance, while the redesigned rear bumper, diffuser and quad exhaust-tip finishers give the car a more purposeful appearance. Together, these elements create a cohesive exterior design that conveys a stronger sporting character even when the car is stationary.

This design philosophy continues in the cabin, where a dual-tone interior with red accents creates a more distinctive sporting atmosphere. The floating centre console and ambient lighting introduce a contemporary touch, while the Commander Dial and Automatic Column Shifter bring selected controls within convenient reach. The result is an interior that carries the 2027 PROTON S70 RS identity beyond its exterior, creating a more cohesive and driver-focused environment.

PERFORMANCE THAT COMPLEMENTS ITS CHARACTER

The 2027 PROTON S70 RS’s more assertive design is matched by the performance-oriented engineering beneath it. Its i-GT 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, paired with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT), delivers an impressive 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds, carrying forward the powertrain that has helped establish the S70 as Malaysia’s Sporty Sedan.

THE NEXT EXPRESSION OF MALAYSIA’S SPORTY SEDAN

The PROTON S70 continues to strengthen its position in Malaysia’s sedan market, leading sales in both the B-segment and C-segment sedan categories. In October 2026, the S70 range recorded strong performances across its variants, with the newly introduced S70 i-GT 1.5 Lite and Prime leading B-segment sedan sales with 2,338 units, while the S70's more powerful variants maintained their leadership in the C-segment with 3,029 units. Combined, the range recorded 5,367 units in October, bringing the S70's total year-to-date sales for the first 10 months of 2026 to 26,076 units.

Combining the 2027 PROTON S70 RS line-off reveal with an industrial-inspired runway, the showcase will spotlight the sedan’s sporty character through a bold fusion of automotive design and contemporary fashion, offering a fresh expression of Malaysia’s Sporty Sedan.
