SUBANG JAYA, 8 October 2026 – National automotive brand PROTON has opened bookings for the All-New PROTON X50 Sport Editon (SE), a model introduced to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the market leading SUV in Malaysia. Based on the flagship variant, the SE features 15 exclusive exterior and interior enhancements for a bolder and sportier appeal.

First introduced on 27 October 2020, the PROTON X50 has surpassed 177,000 units in cumulative sales across domestic and export markets, establishing itself as PROTON’s most successful SUV and the country’s best-selling B-segment SUV for five consecutive years. Over the past six years, the model has continued to evolve with enhancements in design, performance, technology and safety, while maintaining its appeal among Malaysian drivers.

SPORTIER BY DESIGN, INSIDE AND OUT

The All-New PROTON X50 SE introduces 15 exclusive exterior and interior enhancements that create a distinctive new visual signature, giving the SUV a bolder and more purposeful character.

Its exterior adopts a predominantly black treatment, complemented by contrasting red accents that reinforce its sporty appearance. Key enhancements include the Black Front Upper Garnish, Black Front Side Port Trim Garnish, Black Lower Bumper Garnish and Black Rear Side Port Trim Garnish, together with Black 18-inch Alloy Wheels.

The All-New PROTON X50 SE also features dedicated front, side and rear skirtings, giving the PROTON X50 a more dynamic profile, while the exclusive Sport Edition emblem completes its new exterior identity.

Inside, the sporty theme continues with a black interior accented by red stitching on the steering wheel and seats. The front seats feature Sport Edition embroidery, while the floor features Sport Edition detailing and is complemented by TPE floor mats, adding to the distinctive interior treatment.

Designed for everyday Malaysian conditions, the TPE floor mats are lightweight, flexible and quick-drying, making them practical for Malaysia’s rainy and humid climate.

ENGINEERED TO ENDURE

The All-New PROTON X50 SE’s enhancements are not only designed to create a stronger visual statement but are also engineered to withstand the demands of everyday use in Malaysia, with the SE components rigorously validated for durability and suitability for local driving conditions.

The All-New PROTON X50 SE has undergone more than 13,700 hours of testing, covering areas such as durability, corrosion and UV resistance, as well as suitability for Malaysia’s climate. These tests assess the components’ ability to withstand prolonged exposure to everyday driving conditions and the country’s tropical weather.

The extensive testing reflects PROTON’s focus on ensuring that the All-New PROTON X50 SE’s enhancements deliver not only a sportier appearance, but also the durability expected of a vehicle developed for Malaysian drivers.

BUILT ON THE X50’S PROVEN FOUNDATION

Based on the flagship variant, the All-New PROTON X50 SE retains the core strengths that have defined the model since its introduction. Powering it is PROTON’s i-GT 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, paired with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), delivering 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque. With a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 7.6 seconds and fuel consumption of 6.1L/100km, the PROTON X50 combines responsive performance with efficiency for both urban driving and longer journeys.

The All-New PROTON X50 SE also continues to offer a connected driving experience through its 14.6-inch Infotainment Head Unit, with wireless Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto™, PROTON Link 2.0 and ‘Hi PROTON’ Voice Command in Bahasa Melayu and English.

Safety remains a key part of the PROTON X50 proposition, with 15 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features including Auto Park Assist (APA), a 360° HD Camera with 180° Transparent View and other intelligent safety functions designed to provide greater confidence on the road.
