Kuala Lumpur, 18 September 2026 – PROTON was officially confirmed as the Official Mobility Partner for the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026, following a vehicle handover ceremony held at Menara MATRADE. The ceremony was officiated by Dato' Indera Abu Bakar Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE with PROTON being represented by Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, PROTON.

Now in its 22nd edition MIHAS 2026, themed "Shaping Trust, Driving Resilience", will be held from 23 to 26 September 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). The event is officially recognised as the world's largest Halal trade event, bringing together global buyers, trade delegates, industry players and media across 14 strategic sectors of the Halal economy.

Strengthening PROTON's strategic partnership with MATRADE

PROTON will provide 20 vehicles, comprising 10 units of the Proton X90 and 10 units of the Proton X70, to support the mobility requirements of the international media delegation during MIHAS 2026. The collaboration builds on PROTON's relationship with MATRADE as a key government stakeholder, reinforcing the national carmaker's role in supporting Malaysia's trade and export ecosystem.

Commenting on the partnership, Dato' Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa said: "PROTON is proud to be the Official Mobility Partner for MIHAS 2026. As Malaysia's national car company, supporting a platform of this scale and stature is a natural extension of who we are. MIHAS brings together buyers, delegates and media from around the world, and we want every one of them to experience Malaysian engineering and hospitality the moment they step into one of our vehicles."

"Beyond the vehicles we are providing, this partnership reflects PROTON's broader commitment to Malaysia's trade and export agenda. MATRADE and MIHAS play a critical role in opening doors for Malaysian businesses internationally, and it is a privilege for PROTON to be part of that journey, while also gaining the opportunity to showcase our models to an international audience."

Expanding into more international market sales

As PROTON pushes towards achieving its year-end 2026 targets, the company is expanding its reach overseas, making export sales a key growth pillar. For the first eight months of 2026, the company exported 6,059 units compared to 6,000 units for the whole of 2025, pointing towards a growing international footprint for vehicles produced at its plant in Tanjung Malim.

As a global level event, MIHAS presents PROTON with an opportunity to enhance brand visibility and recognition among international stakeholders, supporting the company's efforts to strengthen its international brand presence and export-oriented positioning.
